Hello! Welcome back to another writing update. I have submissions, summits, and conferences to report, oh my!

This March, I am submitting a piece of flash fiction to a contest hosted by Queer SciFi. They are a queer Science Fiction and Fantasy website and blog that promotes LBGTQ+ writers and a community of LGBTQ+ readers. You can find their website here: https://www.queerscifi.com/
Queer SciFi hosts an annual flash fiction contest, in which authors submit speculative fiction stories, 300 words or less, that must match the year’s theme and have at least overtly 1 queer character. This year’s theme is “rise.”
My flash fiction submission is a queerplatonic romance fantasy. 120 chosen submissions will be published in an anthology later this year. I’ll likely hear back on whether or not my submission was accepted in June. I’ll keep you posted on the results!

It’s a new year and I’m getting into writer’s summits and conferences!
This week, I am attending the Fantasy Week Writer’s Summit by ProWritingAid. [https://prowritingaid.com/] This virtual summit has had interesting, useful lectures on topics like self editing, better marketing, finding your ideal reader, and tips for writing better fantasy.
Come May, I’ll have the opportunity to attend The Muse and the Marketplace national writing conference by Grub Street. [https://museandthemarketplace.com/muse-2023/] During the conference, I’ll also have a one-on-one meeting with the awesome literary agent Kiana Nyugen of the Donald Maas Literary Agency [https://maassagency.com/kiana-nguyen/] to get feedback on my writing. I’m incredibly excited for this opportunity!
